DOMAINE GRANDE BELLANE
The estate is on the commune of Valréas, bordering the Vinsobres appellation area, on a shared plateau that overlooks both villages. With a total of 45 ha in a single spread, the vineyards are mainly on slopes of between 390 and 430 above sea level, making this probably the highest average height of the appellation. In addition to the slopes and the advantages of their altitude, Domaine de la Grande Bellane benefits from mainly red limestone-clay terroir with large river-rolled pebbles that are known to be valuable when making great red wines to cellar.
One of the specificities of the estate is that the vines are mainly Syrah. This grape variety flourishes on this high terroir where the coolness of the climate protects it from the high heat of summer of which it is particularly chary. Here Syrah expresses its full complexity of aromas and flavours.
From this terroir, Viognier, Roussane and Marsanne give really fine whites.
